Anti-Racism Statement
Bromley Healthcare is committed to being an actively anti-racist organisation.
Our Anti Racism Commitment
As an organisation, we know that racism has a real and lasting impact on our colleagues, the people we support and the communities we serve. We also know that we have a responsibility to do more than simply say racism is unacceptable. We must take action, listen carefully and be honest about where change is still needed.
We are committed to being an actively anti-racist organisation. For us, this means challenging racism and inequality wherever they appear, whether in individual experiences, workplace culture, policies or processes. It also means creating a place where colleagues feel safe, respected, heard and able to be themselves at work.
We recognise that this work takes time, trust and commitment. We have already taken steps in the right direction.
- We have built belonging, inclusion and respect into our values, behaviours and leadership expectations.
- Considering the impact of our decisions on different groups through Equality Impact Assessments
But we know there is more to do. We will continue to listen to our colleagues, learn from their experiences and work together to address racial disparities in a meaningful and lasting way.
Our commitments include:
- Recognising the impact racism can have on colleagues’ wellbeing and making sure appropriate wellbeing support is available.
- Taking a clear stance that racism will not be tolerated in any form, while continuing to improve how we prevent, challenge and respond to it.
- Supporting the principles of the Race & Health Observatory’s Anti-Racism Model for Improvement (MFI-AR) Framework.
- Identifying and addressing racial disparities in disciplinary processes and complaints.
- Monitoring recruitment, progression and retention so that we can identify and address racial disparities across the colleague experience.
This statement is a commitment to action. It will grow and change as we learn, make progress and hear more from our colleagues. We will review and update it regularly so that it reflects what we are doing, where we are improving and where we still need to do better.
Our aim is to help build a workplace where fairness, dignity and respect are experienced by everyone, every day.
