Bromley Healthcare has welcomed the publication of the NHS’s 10-Year Plan, which sets out a national ambition to bring care closer to home, make better use of digital innovation, and focus more on prevention and personalised support.
The Plan, Fit for the Future, identifies the three overall shifts, aiming to personalise care, give more power to patients, and ensure that the best of the NHS is available to all:
- from hospital to community
- from analogue to digital
- from sickness to prevention
Jacqui Scott, Chief Executive, said:
“Bromley Healthcare welcomes the NHS 10-Year Plan and we’re excited to deliver on it. Our Community First strategy is directly aligned with the priorities set out in the plan. Both are shaped by what people have told us matters most: care that’s closer to home, more joined up, and more personalised.
As a community interest company, we bring deep local knowledge, strong system partnerships and a workforce rooted in the communities we serve. We’re proud to be part of a system that is placing prevention, neighbourhood care and local voice at the centre.
We look forward to working with Primary Care, hospitals, the South East London ICB, Local Authorities, the voluntary and community sector, and our patients to turn the ambitions of the NHS 10-Year Plan into everyday reality.”
Bromley Healthcare delivers a broad range of neighbourhood-based services: from health visiting and district nursing to virtual wards, 27/4 care, and adults’ and children’s therapies. These are underpinned by a digital first approach – embracing digital tools that give people more flexibility and control, including online booking, remote monitoring and AI-supported wound care. Our population health work is also helping us prevent ill health earlier, reduce inequalities and offer more targeted support.
Recent developments at Bromley Healthcare that reflect the direction of the NHS plan include:
- Hospital at Home (virtual wards): One Bromley partners are providing short-term acute care at home for adults, children and young people who would otherwise be admitted to hospital. This helps people recover in familiar surroundings and supports safer, faster discharge.
- Digital tools to improve care: Clinical apps like our award-winning Wound App are helping nurses assess and manage complex wounds more effectively. Online booking systems and virtual therapy are also improving access and flexibility for patients.
- Proactive support for children and families: The Bromley Community Health Integrated Pathway (BCHIP) brings together services to identify needs earlier and reduce the number of separate referrals and assessments for children and young people.
- Tackling health inequalities: Bromley Healthcare is a partner in the South East London Enhanced Sickle Cell Community Service, a programme designed to improve care for people living with sickle cell disorder through personalised, culturally responsive support and better access to local services.
As the system looks ahead to the next decade, Bromley Healthcare stands ready to continue playing a central role in delivering more integrated, personalised, and community-first care.
