Ceinwen Giles

Ceinwen Giles is Co-CEO at Shine Cancer Support, a charity supporting adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s with cancer. She has extensive experience in the charity sector both in the UK and internationally.

Ceinwen is a patient advocate whose work in this sector was preceded by her diagnosis of stage IV non-Hodgkin lymphoma six weeks after her daughter was born prematurely. As a result of her treatment, she lives with chronic immuno-deficiency condition and has written and spoken widely on self-management, patient engagement, and the role of patient and public engagement in health and healthcare. She has a particular interest in the link between staff and patient experience.

Ceinwen is the Chair of the Patient and Public Voices Forum of the NHS England Cancer Programme and sits on the BMJ Patient Partnership Panel. Between 2013 and 2022 she was a Trustee for the Point of Care Foundation and a member of the King’s Fund General Advisory Council.

Ceinwen lives in the Borough of Greenwich with her husband, daughter and a badly behaved cat.
