As part of summer planning all NHS organisations undertake several actions to ensure that advice, guidance and alerts and actions are in place during a heatwave.
The Met Office officially send out heat health alerts during 1st June to the end of September where temperatures are expected to exceed safe levels.
This is all set out in the national heatwave plan.
Most of us welcome hot weather, but when it’s too hot for too long there are health risks. If a heatwave hits this summer, make sure the hot weather doesn’t harm you or anyone you know. For more information, visit NHS Choices or view the Public Health England ‘Beat the Heat’ poster.
Bromley Healthcare teams will be working in accordance with this national guidance to ensure that our staff recognise the signs of heat exhaustion and also work to prevent the risks by following the tips for coping in hot weather.
