The annual awards are back!

Nominate your colleagues today!

We are delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the Bromley Healthcare Annual Awards 2024.

This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate outstanding colleagues.

The categories this year are as follows:

Recognising an individual or team’s contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion within Bromley Healthcare

This new award is for an individual or team that has shown that they have made a significant impact on equality, diversity and inclusion through working with colleagues and staff, and/or our patients and families.

Recognising commitment and excellence in patient care

This award acknowledges the unique contributions that Sue Chadwick and Massey Zekavatbakhsh made to health services in Bromley.

Sue worked in the NHS for many years. Our predecessors, Bromley Primary Care Trust, together with Sue’s family decided to honour her name by establishing an award.

Massey worked in Bromley as a staff nurse for over 30 years before sadly passing away. Her colleagues recommended that an award be set up in her honour to recognise her contribution to services and that she was a great team player.

This year we have combined Sue and Massey’s awards under the new 'Compassion in Action' (Clinical) award for clinicians from all disciplines.

This award is aimed at colleagues and teams who are committed to delivering excellent, compassionate patient care; this includes all registered and unregistered professionals in health and care.

Recognising non-clinical colleagues’ commitment for their part in the smooth running of the organisation and delivery of services

Charlotte Hails worked for Bromley Healthcare and its predecessor organisation for a number of years. In 2012, Charlotte won one of the first Bromley Healthcare awards by demonstrating ‘compassion in action’. In recognition of the significant contribution Charlotte made to Bromley Healthcare in both establishing the organisation and establishing new services, this award is named in her memory.

Here are some examples from last year:

Juliet Sargeant, Health Visitor - Bromley 0 to 19 Public Health Service

Juliet was just one of last year's winners of this award. Here's the nomination:

"Juliet is a Health Visitor working in Bromley 0-19. Juliet joined Bromley Healthcare in 2022 and she has made such an impact in such a short space of time. Not only are Juliet's clinical skills and knowledge fantastic, she is a role model to junior members of staff and she is kind and compassionate at all times. Juliet goes above and beyond within her role, and she is always keen to support her colleagues. Juliet has recently been taking the lead with undertaking outreach work with our local Gypsy / Romany Traveller community, an ethnic group who do not always engage easily with health services. Juliet works really hard to build a trusting and supportive relationship with our GRT families, and the benefits of this to these children and families in having the support and advice from a health visitor will be long-lasting. Juliet is also currently undertaking a Practice Assessor course, and she has a student Health Visitor assigned to her for the next 12 months, who she is teaching and guiding whilst she is in practice. Juliet really deserves this award, as she always shows strong leadership qualities, and she promotes clinical excellence at work at all times."

Children's Community Nursing Team (CCNT)

The Children's Community Nursing Team was just one of last year's winners of this award. Here's the nomination:

"The CCNT are a small group of highly dedicated compassionate nurses who care for children in the borough with long-term and complex health needs including ventilated children and those with cancer. They also care for children who are palliative and end of life, supporting the child, parents, siblings, and wider family unit during this incredibly stressful time to allow the child to die in their own home with dignity and love. In the last few years, we have seen an increase in the number of End of Life children and young people we are caring for and the nurses have gone above and beyond for these families to ensure the best possible care. Helping families and children fulfill many of their wishes and create lasting memories before they die. They flex to work a 24 hour on-call rota, sometimes for weeks at a time, to ensure the child can stay at home and doesn't need to go to the hospital or to a hospice. The care and compassion the nurses provide is second to none for those particular children and families, but also for all the other children on our caseload, and for each other through these emotionally stressful and difficult times. We are nominating the Children’s Community Nursing Team as we believe they deserve recognition for the hard working and dedicated team they are."
