Dr Subo Shanmuganathan appointed as Chair of Bromley Healthcare

Bromley Healthcare is pleased to announce that Dr Subo Shanmuganathan has been appointed as our new Chair.

Subo joined Bromley Healthcare in 2022 as one of our Non‑Executive Directors and will now step into the role as Michael Nutt steps down from his position.

Subo brings long experience from a 25‑year career in health, education, regulation and the charitable sector. She trained as a research scientist and completed her PhD in Clinical Immunovirology at Imperial College London. Her career includes senior executive roles across public and not‑for‑profit organisations, with a strong focus on organisational development, strategic change and service improvement.

Alongside her role with Bromley Healthcare, Subo is a Non‑Executive Director at South East Coast Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust, the Crown Prosecution Service and has just been appointed as Chair at CSH Surrey, a not-for-profit community services provider. She has previously served as a Trustee for charities working in international development and education. Subo is also a senior leadership coach and mentor and has been a Fellow of Advance HE for more than 23 years.

A message from Jacqui Scott, Chief Executive

“We are delighted that Subo will be leading our Board. She brings deep commitment to community health, strong leadership experience and a clear focus on people. Her background across health, education and charitable sectors will support Bromley Healthcare as we continue to strengthen our services and work closely with our partners.”

A message from Subo Shanmuganathan

“It is a real honour to become Chair of Bromley Healthcare. Since joining the Board in 2022, I have seen the commitment, skill and compassion that colleagues bring to people across our communities every day. As a social enterprise rooted in community health, Bromley Healthcare plays a vital role in supporting people to live well in the place they call home. That purpose is what drew me to this organisation and what motivates me as I step into this role.

My career has been shaped by work across health, education and charities, and by a deep interest in how organisations grow, learn and improve. I look forward to using that experience at Bromley Healthcare, working alongside colleagues and partners to strengthen services, support our workforce and keep people at the centre of everything we do.”

Thank you to our outgoing Chair, Michael Nutt

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Michael Nutt, who has served as Chair with great commitment and professionalism. Michael brought many years of Board and Executive experience from sectors including healthcare, finance and technology. His work in community and mental healthcare, along with his long‑standing support for charities, has shaped his thoughtful and values‑driven approach to leadership. We are pleased that Michael is remaining as the Vice Chair to the end of his tenure later this year.
