Bromley Healthcare joins Kent Dementia Action Alliance

 

dementia friendly logoBromley Healthcare is now a member of the Kent Dementia Action Alliance a movement with one simple aim: to bring about a society-wide response to dementia. It encourages and supports communities and organisations across England to take practical actions to enable people to live well with dementia and reduce the risk of costly crisis intervention.

Bromley Healthcare has also submitted an action plan to make our clinics dementia friendly and also put in place steps to ensure we are a dementia friendly employer. One of the actions we are beginning to scope out this month will be look at training and awareness raising for our staff to have a ‘dementia friendly’ focus.

An estimated 22 million people the UK have a family member or friend who has dementia (YouGov,2011). Consequently 49% of the public state they are more likely to support a company if they know it supports people with dementia (YouGov, 2011).
82% of the public believe that people with dementia and their carers need more help and support (YouGov, 2011).
